This is a nice future add-on. However, Additional Headings sounds like you'll add a couple. Pandadoc needs to offer all Headings that Microsoft Word currently offers. When they add more, there is less time that a customer could potentially have an issue with Heading formatting.
Pandadoc has 9 total (1 option is to not choose an option) options for Auto-numbering in Heading. Microsoft Word has 19. MW also includes further intricacy in these Headings through the Define New Multilevel List and Define New List Style choices within the Home tab.
If one of your customer's legal departments (like mine) insists on a specific Heading, then the Smart Content Blocks will not be able to sync with each other upon document creation. Even with the solution I am about to present, I am incapable of reaching true automation. These are the steps I had to take to ensure this format is maintained.
1. Copy and paste a paragraph from MW document with the appropriate Heading into Content Library.
2. Continue this process for all needed sections with a Heading.
3. Upon document creation using the Smart Content feature (which is amazing), all sections made visible from the content library have the same Heading numbers. Here is an example:
1. Section A
1.1 text
1.1.1 text
1.1.1.1 text
1. Section B
1.1 text
1.1.1 text
1.1.1.1. text
4. Download the document as a .doc to be manually edited in MW.
5. Highlight all sections with the heading.
6. Select the appropriate heading to have all sections sync.
This is not a hard process, but this requires extra steps, which requires extra training, which allows for more mistakes. I believe adding all Headings available in MW will alleviate any issue that a customer would have with Auto-numbering a document received from MW.
