Require email verification before viewing a document via public link to accurately track viewers
Currently, when a document is sent to a recipient via PandaDoc, anyone who opens the public recipient link - including internal team members - is recorded as a view in document analytics. There is no way to distinguish between an external recipient viewing the document and an internal employee accidentally clicking the same link.
The requested feature: when a user clicks a document's public link, PandaDoc should prompt them to enter their email address before granting access. This would allow PandaDoc to:
Accurately identify who viewed the document
Distinguish internal (team member) views from external (recipient) views
Optionally exclude known internal email domains or users from recipient analytics
Business impact: Users relying on document view analytics for tracking customer engagement receive misleading data when internal team members click recipient links. This affects trust in PandaDoc's analytics and is especially impactful for sales and operations teams where document open tracking is a key workflow signal.
