I would like to be able to put in a negative number for a line item in the catalog so that clients can see the discount as an item and it's clear for them to see in the quote.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your request. We have great news – the option you are looking for already exists and is available via API. You can create catalog items with negative price via API, and this items will be reflected and calculated accordingly in Quote Builder.
